Attorney For Alabama Mall Shooting Suspect Says Surveillance Video Will Clear His Name

Police have captured a man who they believe carried out the shooting at an Alabama mall, that led police to kill another man last month. However, the suspect’s lawyer says there is footage from the scene which can help clear his name.

Weeks after the tragic shooting that left 21-year-old Emantic Bradford Jr. dead, police arrested 20-year-old Erron Martez DeQuan Brown in Fairburn, Georgia. He now faces one count of attempted murder in a shooting at the Riverchase Galleria Mall in Hoover, Alabama. But, his lawyer believes he is not guilty of the crime.

“We believe that when the video is shown, not necessarily the body cam but the video from the mall, we believe it will show very clearly that Erron Brown was not the instigator of this,” attorney Charles Salvagio said.

Salvagio also made it clear that the shooting was not random and that the people involved actually knew each other. While he refused to elaborate on that, he did say that Brown was not guilty.

“This could have happened anywhere. Somebody wanted it to happen at the Galleria,” he said. “This was not a random thing.”

Authorities say they believe Brown shot 18-year-old Brian Xavier Wilson at the mall on Thanksgiving night before taking off. Wilson and a 12-year-old girl who was hit by a stray bullet are recovering from their injuries. A judge in Jefferson County, Alabama, has granted a motion to release evidence to Salvagio, including video of the Thanksgiving night shooting, which will determine if Brown is innocent.

While we wait for those results, cops have since apologized for assuming Emantic Bradford Jr. was the suspect and shooting him dead. However, his family still wants justice for their horrible accident.
