Australian Senator Hit With Egg After Blaming Immigration For Mosque Attacks
The Australian senator who blamed Muslims for the mosque attacks in a series of tweets received more than a little heat. He got an egg cracked against his head by any angry teen and it was captured all on video.
Sen. Fraser Anning came under blistering criticism over his Friday tweets that read, “Does anyone still dispute the link between Muslim immigration and violence? The real cause of the bloodshed on New Zealand streets today is the immigration program which allowed Muslim fanatics to migrate to New Zealand in the first place,” he said in a statement.
Many were not the Senator or his comment, like one 17-year-old boy. Television cameras caught the moment when the teen broke an egg on Anning’s head and briefly scuffling with the independent senator while he was holding a news conference Saturday in Melbourne. Police shared that the boy eventually got arrested. However, people were donating funds online to cover the teenager’s legal fees, ABC reported, and to help him buy “more eggs.” He was released without charge pending a further investigation.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison described Anning’s comments as “appalling” and “ugly” with “no place in Australia”, as he announced a bipartisan motion of censure would be launched.
49 Muslim worshippers were Killed during the attack at the New Zealand Mosque and it was actually carried out by a 28-year-old Australian man named Brenton Harrison Tarrant, who’s been labeled a white supremacist and now a terrorist. He’s been charged with murder.
