A typical ‘order-in’ dinner night quickly turned into a nightmare for a young woman, who was threatened after she didn’t tip her delivery guy.
The unknown delivery man left the young woman a threatening four-page letter after he brought her a pizza and had to leave empty handed.
Moreover, the young woman, identified as Lauren Ledford, found the frightening letter on the doorstep of her residence in Redondo Beach, California merely a week after she had the pizza delivered. She used the on-demand delivery app, Postmates.
In the letter within the images below, the man began writing,
“Dear young lady,” then proceeded to threaten to rob her if she didn’t tip him next time he delivered to her!
Briefly, he expressed:
“So please, next time tip your delivery driver, and if it turns out that delivery driver is me again, and you do not tip yet again, I’m probably gonna rob you.”
“I’m only joking, but not really. Don’t risk it though. Who knows what a disgruntled deliver driver who can’t afford to eat that day is capable of.”
However, when Ledford reached out to the Postmates service, they did not respond.
“I originally emailed Postmates right when I got it, that I have a very threatening letter on my door. I need someone to call them immediately. No one reacted at all.”
In addition, the driver later made more derogatory comments about Jewish people, and talked about male and female body parts at the end of his letter.
He concluded the letter saying,
“I’m just kinda high and so I need your tip money to stay toasty.”
After she read the letter, Ledford contacted the company and the police.
Ledford claims she didn’t tip the delivery man because she thought tip was included in the delivery charge she paid through the app to Postmates.
Postmates has since confirmed that they have suspended that driver and will cooperate with police, who are investigating the situation. Though the identity of the driver has not been released by the company, Ledford says she wants to pursue charges and get a restraining order against him.
Socialites, what would you do if you were in that situation?
