Border Patrol Fires Tear Gas AGAIN After 100 Caravan Migrants Try To Cross

Around 100 Central American caravan migrants failed their mission to cross the border on Monday night. Their journey not only ended in disappointment but also with a painful experience.

The Tijuana, Mexico migrants who attempted to cross over into San Diego were hit by gas. Photos from the scene show some immigrants crying in pain from the tear gas while others covered their face to protect themselves from it. In addition to that, the US Customs and Border Protection (CPB) then hurled two smoke bombs at the migrants to move them back from the fence, Daily Mail reports.

As outrageous as this sounds, this was not the first time this has happened. Back in November of 2018, US Border Patrol shot tear gas and rubber bullets at a group of migrants, including toddlers, as members of the caravan tried to storm the border. No deaths were reported, but it was a traumatizing experience for those trying to seek entry into the U.S.

Despite heavy criticism for the November incident, Donald Trump has defended the use of tear gas. He also claimed the gas was ‘very safe’ and only a ‘very minor form’ of tear gas. The president has yet to comment on Monday night’s tear-gassing, even though he has talked about the border and migrants during his latest Twitter rant against the Democrats who refused to fund his wall, causing a government shutdown.
