Boy Loses His Hand After Neighbors Tossed Firework At Him On His Tenth Birthday

A Compton, California boy’s life changed after his neighbors threw a homemade firework at him on his birthday. The accident caused him to lose his left hand.

According to KTLA, Aaron Carreto underwent four operations after two male neighbors threw a lit firework towards him on July 6. Carreto was celebrating his tenth birthday with loved ones when the men threw the firecracker moments before it detonated, leaving him no time to react. His sister, Adriana, wrote on a GoFundMe page that the accident did not change his cheerful personality:

“This incident changed his life, (his) way of living, but not his spirits. He’s very caring and aware of other people’s needs.”

Aaron also had burns to his face and stomach.
