California Couple Plead Guilty To Shackling And Torturing 13 Children
A California couple has admitted to shackling and abusing their 13 children in horrific conditions. They currently face torture and other charges.
Buzzfeed reports that David Turpin, 56, and Louise Anne Turpin, 49, pleaded guilty to 14 felony counts, including one count of torture after after their 17-year-old daughter escaped their home and notified police.
Investigators state that she was held captive with her 12 siblings. The youngest was just two. She reports that their parents would chain them to the bed in dirt. The children were all severely malnourished.
The couple is currently facing life in prison. They will be sentenced in April.
“This is among the worst, most aggravated child abuse cases I have ever seen or been involved in,” Riverside County District attorney said.
“The parents would apparently buy food for themselves and not allow the children to eat it … including pies, apple pies, pumpkin pies, and let the children look at it but wouldn’t let them eat it,” he added.
The court has accepted the couple’s guilty plea so the victims do not have to testify and go through their ordeal again!
