Canadian And New Zealand Radio Stations Pull Michael Jackson’s Music
Radio stations in Canada and New Zealand have apparently removed Michael Jackson’s music from their playlists following the broadcast of the “Leaving Neverland” documentary.
The Guardian reports that stations in New Zealand state that they used “editorial judgment” in regards to the music on their playlists and as of now, Jackson does not currently feature.
MediaWorks also confirmed that he had been pulled from all playlists at all its stations as “a reflection of our audiences and their preferences”.
A few major Canadian radio stations also said they had pulled the legend’s music as of Monday morning.
However, other major stations like the BBC state that they will not be pulling Michael’s music. A rep spoke to Variety saying,
“The BBC does not ban artists. We consider each piece of music on its merits and decisions on what we play on different networks are always made with relevant audiences and context in mind.”
Jackson’s estate has shut down the claims in the documentary numerous times adding that Wade and James are just looking for money.
