Cheerleader Who Buried Newborn In Backyard Given Probation
Brooke Skylar Richardson was sentenced to probation following her acquittal on accusations she murdered her newborn.
The Ohio teen, who is now 20, was found not guilty on Thursday of aggravated murder, involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment. However, she was found guilty of the gross abuse of a corpse.
People reports that the judge ordered that Richardson serve three years of probation, and if she violates the terms of her probation she could end up serving one year in jail.
Richardson’s father, Scott Richardson, spoke to the court prior to her sentencing, “My daughter is suffering from an eating disorder and we are concerned about her health,” he said.
As we reported, Richardson was accused of killing her newborn back in July of 2017 when she was 18-years-old alleging that she didn’t want to be a single teen mother who was heading to college. She said the baby was stillborn.
Her lawyers argued that the newborn didn’t meet legal criteria to be considered a child.
