Chicago Police Believe Serial Killer Is Responsible For Over 50 Unsolved Murders
Chicago police suspect that a serial killer is responsible for the deaths of over 50 women.
CBS Chicago reports that Chicago PD said they are looking into a potentail serial killer after a group called the Murder Accountability Project found that there was a pattern in the killings.
“This isn’t something we’re going to sweep under the rug or put up on the shelf for it to disappear,” superintendent Eddie Johnson told the network. “We still investigate these cases.”
50 females have been found strangled with their bodies dumped since early 2001. The crime pattern is consistent with a serial killer.
“It’s highly unlikely these 50 women were murdered by 50 separate men,” the head of the project, Thomas Hargrove, said.
In all the disturbing cases the victims were strangled and their bodies were dumped outdoors.
“I think its a problem that there is a backlog of thousands of DNA test kits, rape kits–whatever the samples are they should be processed and prosecuted.”
Police are currently going over all 51 DNA samples to determine further connections asthe loved ones of those who are missing or dead demand answers.
