A popular Chinese vlogger stunned her fans after a technical glitch changed her filter during a live-stream and revealed her to be a 58-year-old woman last week.
The BBC reports Douyu user “Your Highness Qiao Bilou” was live streaming with another user, Qingzi, when the glitch happened. The video shows the two women talking to each when Bilou’s followers asked her to remove the filter. She refused and told her followers “I can’t show my face until I receive gifts worth 100,000 yuan($11,950). After all, I’m a good-looking host.” Her fans began to send her money which totaled up to 40,000 yuan($5,813). Shortly after, the live-stream began to glitch and revealed her real face.
Bilou only noticed the change when many of her male followers from her VIP access room started exiting the live-stream. The glitch led to hundreds of her fans unfollowing the profile shortly after.

She reportedly suspended her account after the shocking reveal but the story has become a top trending topic in China. It is common for live-streamers to use face filters for their fans. However, the country is becoming concerned about the large number of live-streamers due to the lack of government regulation.
