Coachella Reportedly Caused Spike In Herpes Diagnoses
Looks like folks who attended Coachella this year had a little too much fun during the festival. According for the latest stats from an online tool, it has been determined that herpes diagnoses have spiked in the communities surrounding Indio, Calif. with over 1,000 cases reported!
HerpAlert, which is a website that allows users to send in a photo of their condition and get a diagnosis and prescription based on the results, said the site usually gets 12 cases each day. However, the site said they saw about 250 cases every day during the nine days that the festival was in town.
Apparently, from April 12 to April 21, there were 1,105 cases reported in Indio and Coachella Valley, along with cases reported in Palm Desert, Los Angeles, San Diego County, and Orange County, where most of the festival-attendees come from. While this seems like a big shock, HerpAlert shared with TMZ that that biggest previous spike was during Oscars weekend 2018, when they got a mere 60 cases a day.
