Cops Say There Was An Attempted Murder During Nipsey Hussle’s Vigil
LAPD has more details on the shocking incident that went down at Nipsey Hussle’s vigil last week.
As we previously reported, just a day after Nipsey was tragically killed, fans gathered together in front of his store in Crenshaw to mourn the loss of the rapper. An altercation broke out during the gathering and at the time it was unclear if shots went off or if someone had got stabbed.
However, LAPD has given the latest updates on the incident and they now believe someone did try to commit murder at the vigil. According to a new search warrant, obtained by TMZ, 2 people were shot during that evening— one person in the elbow and another in the lower back/buttocks. The woman who was shot in the buttocks says she heard a “loud, rapid succession of gunshots from an unknown direction.”
Cops believe the incident was captured all on the surveillance video from Marathon. The affidavit reads in part, there is a “surveillance system [that] captured the events leading up to, and after the attempted murder of unknown Victim,” TMZ notes.
LAPD has asked a judge to order the seizure of the video equipment located inside the strip mall stores, including Marathon. But, docs say employees at all the businesses refused to turn over their equipment. What’s even more shocking is that the affidavit says,
“The Marathon store has been involved in numerous investigation where surveillance video has been deleted by staff/management, prior to police arrival.”
What’s even more interesting is that although the warrant says someone was trying to commit murder, cops said shortly after the vigil there appeared to be no evidence of gunshots. Cops didn’t say what evidence they came across to update their reports. But, more details are expected to be shared soon.
