Couple Sentenced For Dissolving Their Two-Year-Old Daughter’s Remains In Acid

A Texas couple sentenced to serve time in prison for the death of their two-year-old daughter. The toddler’s remains were dumped in a bucket of acid after she drowned in a bathtub.

According to Crime Online, Monica Dominguez,38, and her husband, Gerardo Zavala Loredo,32, claimed their daughter, Rebecka Zavala, was left unsupervised in a bathtub with another child before her death in February. After she drowned, the couple disposed of her remains in a bucket of acid. Police arrested the couple for Rebecka’s death but they were not charged with murder due to a lack of substantial evidence to determine a cause of death.

During the sentencing, Loredo pleaded guilty on Friday to tampering with evidence of a human corpse. He was sentenced to serve 14 years in prison. Dominguez was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to tampering with evidence, endangering a child and abuse of a corpse.

Dominguez’s recent sentencing will be consecutive with her 10-year sentence. She was previously sentenced for violating her 2016 probation from a child injury conviction after her then-infant son suffered two fractures in his right arm and two on each leg.
