Cyntoia Brown To Walk Free Next Week After Serving 15 Years Of Mandatory Life Sentence
While given a mandatory sentence of life in prison at age 16, Cyntoia Brown, now 31, will walk free next week (August 7) after serving 15 years; this following Gov. Bill Haslam’s granting her clemency in January,
Brown made headlines over the last year thanks to Kim Kardashian and other celebrities advocating for her clemency after learning of her complicated story; which includes her being exposed to sex trafficking and fatally shooting a Nashville man who solicited her for sex.
Furthermore, upon her August 7-release, Brown, under the terms of her release, will report to a parole officer regularly over the next ten years and must maintain a job, perform community service and enroll in counseling.
