A Missouri day care is under investigation after surveillance footage captured a teacher throwing a child against a cabinet.
Fox 4 KC reports the three-year-old girl was calm on video when a Brighter Day Care and Preschool teacher grabbed the child by the arm, drags her then throws her into a cabinet. The child was taken to a nearby hospital and required seven stitches on her forehead. Her parents were told by the same teacher in a note that their daughter “fell” during the school day.
The family hired Jennifer Hansen for legal representation and Hensen says the day care’s director did not watch the footage until she had a meeting with her clients.
“One of the more egregious aspects of this case is that the daycare director told the family that she did not watch the surveillance tape until the family was with her,”
Hensen added that one of the girl’s relatives recorded the footage via cell phone and was disturbed after they realized it was not an accident as described by the teacher.
“They didn’t and they allowed the daycare worker who assaulted this little girl to continue to work at the facility for five additional days.“
The teacher was immediately fired from the daycare and KTVI added that there were past accidents that involved their employees allegedly abusing and hurting children. State child care officials and police are currently investigating the case.
