The Missouri daycare worker who threw a three-year-old against a cabinet has been arrested and charged with child abuse.
PIX 11 reports 27-year-old Wilma Brown was charged with felony child abuse Thursday after she was caught on camera abusing the toddler at Brighter Day Care and Preschool on Feb. 1. According to the family, Brown wrote on an accident form that the toddler fell and sustained a “bump on her head.” The toddler’s family took the child to a local hospital where she was treated for an. open gash on her forehead and needed seven stitches.
Another worker from the daycare was also arrested and charged for a separate incident that occurred on February 27. 22-year-old Ariana Silver was caught on camera squeezing a four-year-old girl’s arm and broke her skin then lifted up the child by her foot.

Both women have been fired from Brighter Day Care since the incidents and the center’s lawyer says they are working with investigators.
“[The center] has provided exemplary, high-quality education and child care services to thousands of children and their families for more than a decade.”

The family’s lawyer, Jennifer Hansen, said that the girl’s mother “hopes that the release of the surveillance footage will result in justice for this child and ensure that other children are not harmed by the very people entrusted to keep them safe.” Also, the family is consulting with a plastic surgeon to reduce the scar’s visibility on the girl’s forehead.
