A newborn baby was found dead inside of a cooler on the side of a road in Georgia and it may have been there for a week.
According to WGXA, the bag was on the side of the road located in Troup County for many days and local residents say that it could have been there for a week.
“Once on scene, deputies, and investigators discovered what appeared to be a deceased newborn child in a portable cooler bag,” sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Stewart Smith said in a news release
Deputies were called to the scene located on Boy Scout Rd. off New Franklin Rd. where the cooler was located just after 3 p.m. on Sunday. The zipper fastened cooler was covered in a watermelon print design including light blue, red, and green. It zips at the top, front and also sides. The baby has yet to be identified but an autopsy will take place on Tuesday at the GBI Crime Lab.
