DTLA Bar Makes Changes To Security After Video Shows Trans Women Being Removed
A bar in downtown Los Angeles is changing up it’s security after a recent viral video caused a stir.
We previously shared the clip that shows several transgender woman being forcibly removed by security guards following some type of dispute.
Two transgender women and a gay man, claim that they became victims of a hate crime at the bar after one of them was verbally attacked with transphobic slurs.
In a written statement, the bar managers said both groups were asked to leave and the security had to remove those who refused exit.
According to ABC7, Jenifer Bianchi and Khloe Rios said they used excessive force to remove them from the bar, however, the same procedure wasn’t used for others at the bar.
The statement from the bar partly reads, “Our first and primary concern, and has been from day one, is to operate a safe place for all people. Period, no exceptions. We regret that didn’t happen Friday night, and want to apologize to all of our guests including the transgender community, a community who has come to our bar as well as works there.”
They added that they are employing security guards who have had sensitivity training. Police are also investigating the incident as a hate crime.
