Dubai’s Government Denies There Were Any Plans For R. Kelly Concerts

Oops, looks like R. Kelly really didn’t have planned concerts in Dubai after all. The troubled singer claimed he had previously locked in concerts in Dubai which is why sought permission from an Illinois judge to travel there despite facing sexual-abuse charges.

Apparently, his claims were false. According to Associated Press, Dubai’s government on Sunday forcefully denied that the artist had anything planned out there. On top of that, in a rare statement, the government’s Dubai Media Office also denied claims by his lawyer in court that Kelly had plans to meet the sheikhdom’s ruling Al Maktoum family.

“Authorities in Dubai have not received any request for a performance by singer R. Kelly nor are there any venues that have been booked,” the statement said. It added Kelly “has not been invited by the Dubai royal family for a performance.” Ouch.

Welp, looks like the judge has an easy decision to make when Kelly heads back to court on May 7th.
