An eleven-month-old baby is fighting for his life after he was shot in the head, chest, and buttocks in Philadelphia.
According to NBC News, the baby boy’s stepmother was driving the vehicle with the infant in the car Saturday night when multiple gunshots rang out in North Philadelphia. The woman tried to flee the scene for ten minutes before realizing the infant was critically injured. Sgt. Eric Gripp said in a statement that the woman did not realize how bad the situation was until she checked on her stepson.
“She said she had no idea that her car had even been hit and so she kept on driving. When she grabbed the baby from her car he was bleeding — that was when she first realized he’d been hit.”
The infant was transported to Einstein Medical Center but transferred to St.Christopher’s Hospital for treatment and is currently listed in critical condition.

Authorities did not disclose who was the intended target in the shooting but no arrests have been made. The stepmother’s neighbor, Kim Cash, says she hopes the baby boy survives.
“I hope that baby pulls through. I really do. I really do. Eleven months old. My heart is breaking right now. I don’t know what to do.”
