“Empire” Reportedly Had The Lowest Rating In Series History After Jussie Smollett Arrest
The drama involving Jussie Smollett is taking a huge toll on the show “Empire” which the actor stars in. According to the latest reports, the second episode, after Jussie’s arrest, was the lowest rated in the series’ history.
It was said that the March 20 episode scored a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demo, and was watched by just under 4 million total viewers. Last week’s midseason premiere also started off a little rocky, with a 1.3 rating and 4.4 million viewers.
“Empire” director Lee Daniels recently posted an Instagram video where said that he and the cast of the show “have experienced pain, anger, sadness and frustration,” in the wake of Smollett’s arrest but reassured fans that things will get better.
As we reported, Jussie Smollett has been in the hot seat ever since he reported being attacked by two white MAGA supporter. After further investigation, Chicago police determined that he actually staged his attack and filed a false police report. Jussie was arrested and charge. However, he still maintains that he is innocent.
