‘Empire’ Star Terrence Howard Accused of Owing $140,000 in Back Taxes
Following reports that Chicago police is demanding actor Jussie Smollett to cough up $130,000 to recoup the costs of its hate crime investigation, it looks like another “Empire” is being accused of owing six-figures.
According to official records, obtained by The Blast, the State of California Franchise Tax Board hit Terrence Howard with a lien earlier this year, claiming he owes a total of $143,538.61 for taxes owed for 2010, plus interest and penalties for not paying on time.
The doc gives a clear warning to Howard; if he does not settle up the outstanding debt, the government will begin attempting to seize his property and assets.
Despite that, we’re sure Howard would make these payments very soon, as he did in the past when he was hit with hefty liens including owing the IRS $1.1 million back in 2010 and one in 2006 for over $600,000. Both of those previous liens have been settled over the years, according to the news site.
While Howard and Smollett May be going through a tough bump in the road, they are both expected to return for a 6th season of “Empire.”
