Ex-Trump Ally Roger Stone Charged In Mueller’s Russia Investigation
Donald Trump’s former adviser Roger Stone was arrested in Florida this Friday morning on multiple charges of witness tampering, obstruction, giving false statements along with other crimes!
According to The New York Post, Stone was indicted by a grand jury as part of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election and possible collusion with the president ’s campaign.
Now, the indictment does not accuse Stone of coordinating with the Russian government’s election interference in 2016, but the indictment lays out in detail Stone’s conversations about stolen Democratic emails posted by WikiLeaks in the weeks before Trump beat his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton. Mueller’s office has said those emails which belonged to Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta, were hacked by Russian intelligence officers.
Trump’s longtime confidant now faces one count of obstruction of an official proceeding, five counts of making false statements about his interactions related to the release by WikiLeaks of hacked emails during the 2016 presidential election, and one count of witness tampering, according to the Special Counsel’s Office.
PBS reports that Stone is scheduled to appear in court in Florida later Friday. Stone has said for months he was prepared to be charged, however, he has denied any wrongdoing.
