Astrologist Walter Mercado passed away last night in Puerto Rico. He was 87-years-old.
Heavy.com reports Walter Mercado Salinas passed away last night at the Auxilio Mutuo Hospital in San Juan due to apparent renal failure. Prior to his death, it was reported by his niece, Danette Benet Mercado, that he was in a “delicate state of health” for weeks. Earlier this week, “Dando Candela” host Fernan Vélez said Mercado was in stable condition and his health was slightly improving.
Mercado was well known for his daily horoscope readings on television for 50 years and his extravagant capes.

He started as an actor in various telenovelas but earned a time-slot to do daily horoscope readings. He also encouraged his viewers to remain positive and changed his name to Shanti Ananda after losing a legal battle to his manager in October 2010.
