An Arizona father was arrested after he accidentally shot his daughter while teaching her about gun safety.
According to Fox News, Eldon McInville,26, was arrested Thursday afternoon after he accidentally shot his six-year-old daughter in the stomach. Court documents reported that McInville was cleaning the gun and “half-cocked” it so he could reload it with ammunition. The report further added that he was sitting on the bedroom floor while cleaning the gun and tripped.
“He stated that when he loaded the weapon he was seated on the floor of the bedroom and that when he went to stand up he slipped and fell and somehow the gun went off”

The Glendale resident told police that he was learning how to use and clean the shotgun for the first time after watching a YouTube video. He pleaded not guilty in court during a hearing on Friday. He faces charges of child abuse and assault and his daughter is currently in critical condition.
McInville is currently being held at a local jail and his bond was set for $50,000. There are no reports if he posted bond as of Saturday since he asked the judge for an early release.
