A Kentucky father was arrested over the weekend for fatally punched his newborn son after he losing a video game.
According to the New York Post, 26-year-old Anthony Trice was watching his one-month-old son, De’Anthony, inside of his Louisville home when he lost to a video game. Police reported that Trice allegedly went into a fury and threw his video game controller then punched the baby boy in the head. Afterward, he attempted to soothe the crying infant but dropped him on the ground while entering the kitchen. Officials also added that Trice made the boy a bottle and sat him upright then left him alone while he went to use the bathroom. When he exited the bathroom, Trice noticed that his son was in distress and contacted 911. De’Anthony was transported to Norton Children’s Hospital and was initially listed in serious condition upon his arrival but he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.
During a court appearance on Monday, Trice faced multiple charges of murder and criminal child abuse. He is currently being held on a cash bond of $1,000,000. A GoFundMe account was created to help pay for D’Anthony’s funeral expenses. The boy’s grandmother said on the crowdfunding page that no one expected this to happen:
