First Cousins Fight For Right To Wed In Utah After Getting Married In Colorado
An unlikely couple are fighting for the right to get married in their home state of Utah.
Michael Lee and his wife Angie tied the knot in Colorado where it is legal to get married despite being related! Yes, Michael and Angie are first cousins!
Apparently, it all began in the second grade.
“My first cousin and I have been in love with each other our whole lives but we are prohibited from marrying in the state of Utah where we live,” she wrote in an online petition. “We believe that the law is outdated and it needs to be changed so that we can socially legitimize our love.
Michael adds, “life was unfair. Like why did the person I want to be with the most … Why did you have to be my cousin?”
