The virdict has come in as not guilty for the former cheerleader whowas accused of killing her newborn!
Brooke Skylar Richardson has been found not guilty in the case of aggravated murder, involuntary manslaughter, and child endangerment.
This comes after the jury deliberated for 4 hours and 25 minutes in a case where Richardson was accused of killing and burying her newborn daughter.
While she was found not guilty to the above charges, she was found guilty of gross abuse of a corpse which her legal team admits she buried the baby in her parent’s backyard.
In the case of tampering with evidence, the judge threw it out stating that the prosecution did not meet its burden of proof.
Richardson was accused of killing the baby back in July of 2017 when she was 18-years-old alleging that she didn’t want to be a single teen mother who was heading to college.
Richardson’s attorneys argued that the baby was stillborn and didn’t meet the legal criteria to be considered a child. Prosecutors did allege that she intentionally killed her baby, however, that was shot down by results from a medical examiner which showed that they were unable to find a cause of death.
Richardson faces up to a year in jail for the charge of abuse of a corpse. She will be sentenced on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m.
