Former New York Giants quarterback Jared Lorenzen passed away after dealing with complications surrounding his health. He was 38-years-old.
According to the New York Post, Lorenzen was dealing with heart and kidney issues and was hospitalized on Friday. His mother sent a text to ESPN, confirming her son’s untimely death:
“I lost my sweet boy today after a long hard fight,”
Lorenzen was signed as a free agent to the New York Giants in 2004 and played four seasons with the team. He also earned a Super Bowl ring in Super Bowl XLVII along with former teammate, Eli Manning. Eli Manning released a statement following his former teammate’s death:
“Jared was a great teammate and friend. We competed against each other in college and came to the Giants together. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I will always remember his competitive spirit and his good nature. Jared has left us all way too soon.”
