Former VS model Karlie Kloss recently spoke out about the cancellation of Victoria’s Secret cancelation and her decision to walk away from the brand!
Last month the announcement was made that Victorias Secret and their parent company L Brands decided their annual fashion show had been canceled for 2019!
While it came as a surprise to many, former VS angel Karlie Kloss spoke out giving fans an idea as to why it was a good decision.
On a recent episode of the “Today Show,” Kloss spoke with hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb where she said;
“I think it’s a reflection of the world we live in today. And, you know, consumers demand that brands are inclusive and body positive and sustainable. And I think brands have to evolve.”
Having walked the carpet from 2013 to 2015 and again in 2017, Kloss decided that she was ready to walk away. While she didn’t go into detail about the reasons she left, she did say;
“I’m grateful for the opportunities that it provided me, but I was ready to move on.”
However, she has given a mode in-depth interview to British Vogue where she shared;
“The reason I decided to stop working with Victoria’s Secret was I didn’t feel it was an image that was truly reflective of who I am and the kind of message I want to send to young women around the world about what it means to be beautiful.”
“I think that was a pivotal moment in me stepping into my power as a feminist, being able to make my own choices and my own narrative, whether through the companies I choose to work with, or through the image I put out to the world.”
