The founder of an African-American museum in Baton Rouge was found dead inside of a car trunk.
WAFB reports Sadie Roberts-Joseph,75, was found inside of a car trunk on Friday around 3:45 p.m. Joseph was well known in the Baton Rouge community as the founder of the Odell S. Williams Now & Then Museum of African American History. The Baton Rouge Police Department said the car was found in the 2300 block of North 20th Street In Choctaw.
Authorities did not reveal how Joseph’s body was found in the vehicle.

A statement was released by the Baton Rouge Police Department on their Facebook page honoring Joseph’s contributions to the community:
“Ms. Sadie was a tireless advocate of peace in the community. We had opportunities to work with her on so many levels … Ms. Sadie is a treasure to our community, she will be missed by BRPD and her loss will be felt in the community she served.”

An official cause of death will be determined by the East Parish Coroner’s Office.
