While the network previously stated that Empire star Jussie Smollett, 36, would not be “written out” of the show, Fox now releases a statement following Smollett’s disappointing arrest on criminal charges, stating that they are “considering [their] options” with the actor.
Additionally, as production continues, 20th Century Fox TV and Fox Entertainment explains; “We understand the seriousness of this matter and we respect the legal process. We are evaluating the situation and we are considering our options.” Sources close to production add that suspension is a high possibility following his Wednesday (Feb. 20) indictment.
Furthermore, Smollett’s arrest follows his claims of a racist and homophobic attack against him; which Chicago PD says was a publicity stunt “orchestrated by Smollett because he was dissatisfied with his salary.” #Socialites, thoughts?
Moreover, Fox’s remarks come 24 hours after they lent a “statement of support,’ stating, “Jussie Smollett continues to be a consummate professional on set.”
In addition to staging the attack, Chicago PD charged Smollett with felony disorderly conduct for allegedly filing a false police report.
Also, authorities claim that the actor paid the alleged attackers $3,500.
