Days after rapper Future hit a major milestone in his career by being the first artist ever to have two different albums hit #1 two weeks in a row, Future took his crew out on a little congratulations shopping trip and put down some major dollars.
Knowing his connection with Reebok, the Atlanta rapper wasted no time spending $20K on his 20 group crew, a perk of being a partner with the shoe brand.
In an interview with Sole Collector, Future said that he took his entourage to the headquarters in Canton, Massachusetts and let them pretty much pick out of the entire inventory.
“You know people hear free shit and they just start picking up everything,” Future said, estimating the spree was for about $20,000 of Reebok merchandise. “So [Reebok] gave me a budget because I bought out the entire store.”
Being the face of the Reebok campaign for their first knit sneaker the Zoku Runner, Future was able to headline Reebok-sponsored private concerts, while also knocking the haters who commented on his newfound partnership.
“Wait until the shoe drops,” he said, referring to his own signature Reebok sneakers set to release this year. “We got a shoe dropping, but right now it’s all about the Zoku shoes that we’re promoting.”
Just like DJ Khaled took out to share his Timberlands with his friends before the release date, Future also plans to hit up all his musician friends to let them get the first pick.
That list includes people like Kanye West, ASAP Rocky, ASAP Ferg, Kodak Black, Tory Lanez, Migos, Zoey Dollaz, Chris Brown, Rihanna, The Weeknd, YG, and Nicki Minaj.
“Everything is musically driven,” he said. “When it’s musically driven, rappers have the opportunity to have an influence on the listeners as far as style.”
While there is no release date on the Zoku Runners, we do know what they will most likely be amazing.
