Now updated reports have confirmed that Bill unfortunately passed away later that day. The rapper’s publicist, Dawn P., told Rolling Stone along with other outlets,

“Bushwick Bill passed away peacefully this evening at 9:35 P.M. He was surrounded by his immediate family. There were incorrect previous reports that he had passed away this morning. We are looking into doing a public memorial at a later date. His family appreciates all of the prayers and support and are asking for privacy at this time.”

Th rapper revealed just last month he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. His group was set to go on a reunion tour but decided to cancel because of his diagnosis.

Bushwick Bill, (Born Richard Shaw), Scarface and Willie D became the Geto Boys in Houston back in 1988 and signed with J. Prince’s Rap-A-Lot Records. Bill originally joined as the dancer under the name “Little Billy.” The group rose to fame with their 1991 album We Can’t Be Stopped, which featured a graphic photo of Bill in the hospital after losing an eye in a gunshot incident. The rapper later released six solo albums, starting with his 1992 debut Little Big Man.

Although Bill is no longer with us, his legacy still lives on. Hollywood Unlocked sends our deepest condolences to Bushwick Bill’s family and close friends.
