An Alabama man was arrested over the weekend for stabbing a giant “Baby Trump” protest balloon. Officers say a man identified as Hoyt Hutchinson, slashed that Trump balloon at Monnish Park as people were protesting the president’s visit to an NCAA college football game between Louisiana State and Alabama playing nearby in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019.

Hoyt Hutchinson, 32, was arrested and charged with felony first-degree criminal mischief after reportedly leaving an 8-foot-long gash in the ballon, which deflated. Cops say that shortly before the incident, Hutchinson even shared a video to Facebook sharing his plans to “make a scene.” “Y’all watch the news,” he said in the clip, according to “I’m shaking I’m so mad right now. I’m [gonna] to pop this balloon. Stay tuned. It should be interesting.”

A GoFundMe page was created on Saturday to help Hutchinson “pay legal fees and restitution.” According to The New York Post, the page has raised $39,641 as of Monday afternoon. The goal for the fundraiser was initially set at $6,000.

After being released on bond, Hutchinson posted another Facebook video saying,

“Some liberals tried to come to my hometown and start some trouble. That ain’t happening,” Hutchinson said in the video. “I did get arrested. I got charged. That’s all right. I’d do it again given the opportunity.”

He then asked for contributions, promising that whatever was leftover would go to the Republican Party.
