Back in September of 2017, one wouldn’t have imagined that these two major lables would be working together. If you recall, during fashion week, Gucci was called out for ripping off one of Dapper Dan’s vintage designs. They later made a statement saying that during their fashion show, they were just looking to pay homage to Dan.

Being that he was an extremely popular designer back in the 80’s it only made sense for them to actually ask his permission to create pieces.

“Nothing has been more significant in the Harlem cultural scene than [Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele] and Gucci coming to Harlem and partnering with Dapper Dan.”

Back in January, the pair opened a boutique in Harlem in January which Dan described as

“A sign of the times. For the 1st time in history, a major luxury brand store has opened in : @Gucci by @DapperDanHarlem. With made-to-order garments for your taste & in your specific measurements, I will create your design from your mind, or come up with a design for you.”
