The man reportedly walked through the doors of the UPS Mail Innovations warehouse around 8:30 am Monday and fired shots at the ceiling. According to law enforcement sources that spoke with NBC New York, he then took two women hostage. No one was hit in the first shooting and police evacuated the building and surrounded the loading dock area of the UPS supply chain warehouse in Logan Township.

32 workers were inside of the facility when the man began firing, per Gloucester County officials. Armed officers can be seen from aerial images crouching behind vehicles while some swarm an office door. Armored trucks, ambulances, and a bomb squad have also arrived at the scene. There were no reported injuries.

UPS provided a statement with very few details about the people involved.

“UPS is working with law enforcement as they respond to an active shooter situation at one of the company’s supply chain processing facilities in Logan Township, New Jersey. We cannot provide information about the identity of people involved at this time,” UPS said in a statement.

Donnelle Harden, a UPS employee, told abc6 that he was simply tending to his work when he noticed coworkers running for the exit and then heard two gunshots. Another worker, Ashlee Erickson, uploaded a Facebook video showing her point of view.

“There was a massive police presence as soon as we were walking out of the building, there were a good 10 cop cars, they all had their guns drawn out heading toward the main entrance of the building,’ Erickson said.

“From what I understand it was someone who did not work there that was having a confrontation with their significant other,” she added.

Schools in the area were put on a modified lockdown due to “policy activity in a nearby industrial park,” Superintendent Patricia Haney said. Gloucester County spokeswoman Debra Sellitto said that “all other businesses and areas within the community are secure”. We will keep you updated as this story develops.
