Shaking hands with your coworkers t work may seem like something so normal, but it could be banned pretty soon!
Physical contact in the workplace has become a very touchy subject over the past year or so with the #MeToo movement being front and center.
However, it looks like there may be a new work ban that will stop coworkers from shaking hands with each other.
According to employment expert Kate Palmer, an associate director of advisory at HR consultancy Peninsula said that banning a simple handshake could avoid those “grey areas.”
“Some employers may put a complete ban on physical contact. Whether that’s going too far or not is a question I would pose, because it’s contextual. Does shaking someone’s hand go too far? They may just say ‘no contact at all’ because there’s no grey area.”
Surprisingly, in a recent survey, 2,000 adults are for a complete ban of physical contact while at work which includes hands.
So the next time you go in for a job interview be very careful when it comes to shaking the hand of your potential new boss.
