An Alaskan female high school student was suspended after she kicked a male student in the groin when he and his friends prevented her from exiting the girls’ bathroom.
According to KTUU, the student’s suspension was brought up by state representative Tammie Wilson during a meeting with the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District superintendent. She said the incident occurred last week when a group of boys entered the girls bathroom as a form of “protest” and tried to block the female student from leaving.
“We had an incident last week to where some boys entered the girls’ bathroom, and a girl kneed a boy, feeling threatened. They were blocking her way. And she was suspended from school, because she used too much force,”
Wilson added that the female student was in the right to defend herself since she felt threatened by the group:
“If you ever feel threatened, for your safety, whatever force you think you have to go give, I will stand by you and so will your community, and not for those boys who were where they didn’t belong,”

As a result of self-defense, the female student was suspended and missed her prom while the group of boys were permitted to attend. The school district said in a statement that they could not comment on the incident. However, they said that many students faced disciplinary action.
Wilson said that the school district should of defended the female student instead of punishing her for self-defense:
“She did the right thing, and we should be backing her, not having her sitting at home wondering whether she made the right decision or not,”
