A 61-year-old man has been arrested for reportedly throwing battery acid on a man in Milwaukee. Police are calling it a hate crime.

Mahud Villalaz, 42, is an American citizen and suffered major facial burns after an older white man allegedly verbally attacked him before dousing him in acid.

WISN-TV obtained footage of the incident that shows Villalaz and the suspect get into an argument about how Villalaz parked his truck.

“Because I was parked wrong. I’m going to my truck, and I move it half a block there. Then I get out to go to the restaurant, and the guy’s still there with a bottle in his hands,” Villalaz recalled.

Villalaz adds that his attacker called him an “illegal.”

“I think I pissed him off because I told him, ‘This is my country. This isn’t your country. Everybody came from somewhere else here,'” Villalaz added.

The argument turned violent when the white man threw the acid.

“The feeling was burning, and I tried to defend myself, but I couldn’t because I couldn’t open my eyes,” Villalaz said.

Villalaz suffered vision loss and second degree burns to his face.

As of now, Police have not released the suspect’s name.
