A homeless man miraculously survived after staying under a moving MTA Subway Train when he fell onto the tracks to retrieve a bag of food.
Police reported that the unidentified man was on the northbound platform of the No.1 train at 181 in Manhattan around 10:30 p.m. He tried to catch a bag of food that his friend tossed him from the opposite track. Afterward, he climbed onto the tracks to retrieve the bag that contained rice, beans, and catfish when he lost his balance on the track.
Witness Pedro Cruz said the man attempted to grab the bag of food when he fell into the train tracks:
“He tried to jump down [on the tracks] and get the food. But then boom, he fell. He fell right behind the food.”

Cruz added that he tried to help by yelling at the man to stay under the train:
“‘Yo! Yo! Yo! Lay down under the train!’ He’s lucky because he got in the track underneath the train,”
First responders arrived at the scene after witnesses informed them that the man was stuck under the train. Authorities removed him from under the subway car and said he had no injuries or cuts from the train. He was transported to Harlem Hospital as an extra precaution but was reported to be fine.
