HU Exclusive: Giving You The Keys To The Bounce Trumpet Awards


Hollywood Unlocked was at the Dolby theatre in Hollywood for the 28th annual Bounce Trumpet Awards honoring the accomplishments of black humanitarians!

Bounce TV hosted its 28th annual Trumpet Awards in Hollywood for the first time everywhere they brought out celebrities from near and far to honor 6 amazing people in black culture.

While on the carpet, we spoke with a bunch of celebs and social media influencers who shared nothing but praises for the honorees which included Martin Lawrence, Cedric The Entertainer, Hydeia Broadbent, Phylicia Fant, Marsai Martin, and Ambassador Young.

Singer Fatih Evans opened the show singing “You Gets No Love” and  “I’m every woman” which was accompanied by drummer Sheila E. Other performers included BJ The Chicago kid, Nas, Jason Mcgee, and Lenarda Johnson.

To get the show started, funny woman and activist in her own right Wanda Sykes took the stage as the host where she had the audience laughing.

Their first honoree was Phylicia Fant who was awarded the Corporate Exec. of the Year award. Fant who is the Co-Head of Urban Music at Columbia Records was given the award by Epic Records CEO, Sylvia Road.

Cedric The Entertainer was awarded the Excellence in Entertainment by his good friend Niecy Nash who spoke about his new role on CBS in their new show The Neighborhood.

The creator of the Trumpet Awards Xernona Clayton took the stage to award the Xernona Clayton Award to Ambassador Andrew Young who is the 14th United States Ambassador to the United Nations.

Anthony Anderson who plays Marsai Martin’s father on hit ABC show Black-ish surprised the young star as he presented her with The Rising Star Award after she made history being the youngest producer for her movie Little which grossed 48 million in Box Office.

Lamman Rucker presented Hydeia Broadbent with the Community Activist Award for her continued fight for HIV and Aids having been diagnosed with the disease at childbirth.

Lastly, Mike Epps took the stage to present, Martin Lawrence, with the Luminary Award as he played an intricate part in the comedy careers of many who take the stage today!
