Hulu Joins Lifetime After Ordering R. Kelly Sex-Abuse Documentary

Hulu follows Lifetime’s suit.

While we reported Lifetime’s producing a new docuseries around R&B legend R. Kelly and his recent sex cult scandal, Hulu follows closely behind; recently ordering their own sex-abuse documentary, developed by BuzzFeed News.

In addition to reporting done by BuzzFeed’s Jim DeRogatis, the veteran music critic/radio host who first broke the story last year, deputy national editor Marisa Carroll will oversee the coverage of the ongoing case; as women continue to come forward with further details.

Additionally, as Lifetime is seeking help with the parents of the alleged victims, Hulu’s doc. will feature interviews with said victims, key figures involved in the singer’s past, plus close associates.

Furthermore, last year DeRogatis broke the explosive and in-depth story of multiple women accusing the singer of sexually abusing them and using inappropriate behavior over the past two decades.

While indicted in 2002 on multiple counts of child pornography, Kelly was later acquitted and has never been convicted of a crime to date.
