After 5 years, a man in India has finally had a horn like growth removed from his head.
Shyam Lal Yadav, 74, has undergone major surgery to remove a “ devil horn” from the top of his head.
Yadav said that about 5 years ago, he noticed a lump at the top of his head. After it began to cause him pain, he attempted to have barbers trim it.
“Initially, he ignored it as it did not cause any discomfort,” Dr. Vishal Gajbhiye, said in a statement. “Also, he got the growth cut by the local barber. But, when the lump hardened and started growing further, he approached the hospital at Sagar.”
Dr. Gajbhiye called the growth a sebaceous horn which in medical terms can also be referred to as a devils horn.
This is said to have been caused by sun exposure to an area of his head which caused the growth made of keratin.
Gajbhiye was able to remove the growth with a razor while using a skin graft to close the opening in his head.
While it was removed successfully and found to be benign, doctors say that he will likely still have to face treatment to prevent regrowth.
