A 7-month-old baby girl was hospitalized Sunday with a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit of an adult driver.
FOX 8 reports the Cleveland baby girl was left with her aunt before her mother left for work around 9 a.m. Sunday. The infant’s mother told police that her daughter was acting differently when she returned at 5:30 p.m. She was taken to University Hospitals Babies and Children’s Medical and told the medical staff that her daughter was unresponsive.
After performing a routine drug panel on the infant, hospital officials discovered that the infant had a BAC of 0.25, three times the legal limit for an adult driver. Her mother and aunt stated that they have no idea how alcohol entered in the baby girl’s system.

According to WKYC, the infant’s mother suspects that another relative could have put alcohol in the baby’s bottle so she could calm down and go to sleep.
Details surrounding the infant’s condition have not been revealed and the case is currently being investigated by Cleveland police and the Department of Children and Families.
