A couple from Germany is receiving backlash after creating a GoFundMe page and asking their followers to donate money to help fund their vacation.
The Independent reports Catalin Onc and his girlfriend, Elena Engelhardt, are travel influencers who post their adventures on Instagram with the handle @another_beautiful_day_official. Recently, the couple planned to do a tandem bike ride from Germany to Africa in July and asked their followers to help them raise more than €10,000($11,200). A GoFundMe page was created so the couple’s 37,000 followers can donate the money directly.
‘The funds we raise will go towards the bike and gear, food and accommodation (when needed), internet and SIM cards in every country to keep you up to date, insurance, emergencies.”
However, the couple has received some negative feedback after their followers stated that they should get regular jobs instead of asking people to fund their vacation.

Another Instagram user commented on how one of the couple’s parents work two jobs:
“Your mom works two jobs to pay for your trip, don’t you think that’s impacting her mental health? It’s sad this isn’t all a joke, the self-importance you have is ridiculous.”
The couple responded back to the criticism and said that people are too “quick to judge their situation.”
“At this very moment we don’t have much, we are accepting money from my mother and also donations but we don’t hide that. This situation is teaching us a lot.”
