Jason Derulo was forced to pull out of his performance at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony due to delayed travel issues. The 28-year-old “solo” singer was supposed to be singing the tournament’s official song in front of 80,000 at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium.

However, those in attendance for the Russia vs Saudi Arabia game would not hear Derulo sing because he was delayed en route to the capital. Instead, Robbie Williams and Russian singer Aida Garifullina have to headline the event to millions of people around the world.

According to Page Six, Derulo had previously said he would sing his new song “Colors” at the ceremony and would use his visit to try and find a girlfriend. He had released Fifa’s official World Cup song on his YouTube channel earlier this year. He also appeared at Russia’s official welcoming of the trophy at Gorky Park in Moscow and said he would be back for the big kick-off.
