A man who sued Johnson & Johnson after growing breasts following the use of their product will receive $8 billion in punitive damages from the company.

Nicholas Murray, 26, claimed that he grew breasts after doctors prescribed him Risperdal for an autism spectrum disorder when he was 9-years-old.

Risperdal is used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and irritability associated with autistic disorder. However, Johnson & Johnson is facing numerous lawsuits claiming the drug is linked to abnormal breast growth in men.

Murray’s lawyers claimed that the company marketed the drug for unapproved, off-label use in children so that they could increase profits, choosing “billions over children.”

According to CBS News, Johnson & Johnson vehementley denied the allegations.

In a statement, they said it was “precluded from presenting … key evidence…” The company further claimed that evidence showed how the label for the drug “clearly and appropriately outlined the risks associated with the medicine.”

Murrays settlement is one of the biggest to date!
