His success this year came mostly from his success with his shoe company Yeezy which is said to exceed $1.5 billion by the end of this year. With this additional boost in his profit, he has managed to bring in $150 million pretax over the past year helping him secure the number one spot the first time.

“There was a beam of light on the idea of me making athletic footwear,” West stated in an interview with Forbes. “A paradigm shift. Like the Yeezy is desired as much as a Jordan.”

Following that beam of light, surely paid off in his case as he pulled in about half the revenue of the Nike Air Jordan line.

By taking the number one spot, he beat out celebs like Jay-Z who took the number two spot ($81 million), Drake at number three ($75 million), Diddy at number 4 ($70 million), and his bro Travis Scott at number 5 ($58 million).
