Heartbreaking news; Karl Lagerfeld, the iconic fashion designer and creative director for Chanel and Fendi, has sadly passed away this morning in Paris, according to The New York Times.

Multiple outlets have confirmed his death. However, at this time, his cause of death is not yet known. It was said that he had been ill for several weeks and it was even pointed out that he missed the Chanel haute couture show in Paris in January for the first time.

Lagerfeld has always been known as the hardworking controversial designer. He had been reportedly working hard close up until his death, even giving his team instructions relating to the Fendi autumn/winter 2019 show, which is due to take place during Milan Fashion Week this Thursday.

Tributes have already poured in for the man who impacted the world just by his fashion. Fellow designer Donatella Versace led the tributes on social media by praising his “genius” and “incredible talent”. Jeremy Scott said he is “at a lost for words” but has many memories he will cherish for ever.

Lagerfeld was just 85. He will be greatly missed.
